Summer is finally here, and it’s time to hit the great outdoors!!
My little boy absolutely loves going outside. He loves looking at ants, spiders, ladybugs, squirrels and any other creature lurking around. Whenever he sees a bee, he makes the most adorable buzzing sound and then sings the first verse of “Baby Bumble Bee.” It’s soooo cute!

My husband and I want to raise our son to be a good steward of the Earth. We are making a conscious effort to expose him to the great outdoors. We hope he still enjoys the wonder of all of God’s green Earth – even after he gets his first ant bite or wasp sting.
We hope he always knows how blessed he is to be able to breathe clean air, run in the grass and play with the rolly pollies. We hope he is always able to enjoy a fresh peach, a juicy mango and a bunch of green grapes.
Below is a list of fun outdoor activities to do with your child. If you have other ideas, let me know!
5 Great Outdoor Activities for your Child
- Grow a Garden: Even if your outdoor space is limited, buy a potted plant and grow it indoors (make sure the potted plants aren’t poisonous).
- Farmer’s Market Fun: Head to your local Farmer’s market and explore all the wonderful fruits and vegetables
- Play in the Park: Find a park and let your child play until your heart is content! This is sure to give your little one plenty of exercise and a good night’s sleep.
- I is for Ice Cream: A lot of children don’t know how ice cream is made. The summer is a great time to show them. Break out the ice cream maker and let it churn!
- Chalk Art: Get a box of chalk and draw on the sidewalk or pavement.
